“I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’

(John 1:23)

The prophet Isaiah was predicting about John who was the forerunner of Jesus asking people to repent, that is to turn from their old sinful ways and baptising them with water. When Christ gave HIS last command to the disciples He told them to go and make other disciples of all nations. Therefore today’s verse was not only meant for John but is true and alive for each one who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Just before this verse in John chapter 1, “The one whom Jesus loved most” describes Jesus as the light. That light which the darkness did not overcome. Being transformed into Christ likeness, we too are to be the light and transmit the light into the life of others. That is what it means to prepare the way for the Lord; through our daily living we would become mirrors of the living Word, through the way we behave, love and care for one another and towards the people who are still seeking.

The world today can be described more than ever before a place in the wilderness. People not knowing where they are going, self reliant people which break down the minute they realise that they cannot possibly do it on their own or relying on others only to discover they have been betrayed. A world of chaos of which Satan is its god.

This voice crying in the wilderness today is calling out to come to terms with your Creator, repent from your sins and be baptised in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and start a new life no longer based on you but on a desperate dependency on the ONE – Jesus who will never betray you nor forsake you.

Yes life is full of disappointments, that is because you never tried Jesus in a real way….now you know what you ought to do.
