“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,

and desperately wicked.

Who really knows how bad it is?

But I, the Lord, search the hearts

and examine secret motives.

I give all people their dew rewards, according to their actions deserve.”

(Jeremiah 17:9-10)

Self-centerdness can be masked with a coating of righteousness and would soon become our custom religion. We really need to scrupously examine our motives, just like this scripture says, God will sift our motives and will reward us accordingly. Many times we would want God to bless our personal agenda and if our request is not satisfied then we say that God is not answering our prayers.

Being Christians means being followers of Christ. His agenda will become our agenda and His will will become our will. Yes most of the time our own will and agenda will clash head on with God’s will. We cannot allow our agenda to be a stumbling block which will stop us to be in God’s will, the only thing that truly matters at the end of the day.

Yes changes needs to be made and yes we have to start saying no to a lot of stuff, but what God has for us is far more rewarding than the very best we can ever achieve in this world.

It takes serious time in the Lord presence through reading the Word and prayer to come to terms with this reflection. The Holy Spirit will assure you that whatever you will give up would be worthwhile for eternity…..
