I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship
In this verse you can see right through Paul’s heart, which is burning up to see his fellow brethren in the Lord dedicating their lives to the Lord. He is calling to do a “DECISIVE” dedication of all their being. How many time we came to a ‘cross road’ and decided to live a life more pleasing to God? If the answer is more than once, then it means that at some point their was a failing point in that decision and for some reason or another you back slid.
Today’s scripture is encouraging you to take a decisive (no turning back) decision to dedicate yourself to God. JESUS did not spare HIS life or waited for you to repent to give HIS all to you. He just laid it down with the hope that you will accept HIS precious gift of salvation and live by HIS promises.
Only through this devoted life we can truly offer true and effective spiritual worship. The ONLY kind of worship which the Lord accepts.
So it is time for us to get serious about our identity. Time to stop playing church and it is high time to start being the persons which the Lord wants us to be. That is what living sacrifices mean, this is the only way to be a true Christian.
