Scripture: Numbers 8:5-26
The Levites were highly blessed as they were set apart from the Lord’s service. The good news is that the same place of honour is reserved to all those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
For the Levites to be consecrated unto the the Lord they had to pass through a cleansing process as no one can approach a Holy God if not purified. The same goes for us who are called by HIS Name. With every place of honour comes responsibility and commitment and so is the case of the Highest place of honour that is to be set apart for the Lord.
There is no such thing as part time Christians. Our faith in Christ and commitment to follow His teachings should become our lifestyle. There are many who would like the blessings, serenity and peace, which God gives to His people but are not ready to submit to HIS authority, which at the end of the day is the only way for those blessings to come in our lives.
On the other hand, the Bible clearly speaks about the fact that no matter how much ministry and good deeds we do, even if our lives is devoted to the Lord’s service, unless it is endorsed by true repentance and submission to God’s Word, all will result to be an illusion once we are in front of the LORD on Judgement day. He will simply say “I do not know you.”
This is a call for some thorough self examination. Did we truly repent? That is did we ask for forgiveness and turned away from our old sinful ways? Are we allowing the Holy Spirit to change us on a daily basis through God’s Holy Word? If your answer is a genuine YES than, praise God keep on pressing in faith as change in Christ likeness is a life long exciting and rewarding journey. If you are not sure or the answer is no, then it is time to go back to the foundations and make sure Christ is there, making sure your name ia written in the book of life.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us the blessed assurance of eternal life, through your Son Jesus. Most of the time we get carried away in doing good deeds without YOU being in the foundation of it all. Please help us not to loose our true purpose and focus so that our labour would not be in vain but will bring Glory to Your Name and will serve to effectively reach out others unto you. May this reflection give food for thought and a deep concern for us all to self examine ourselves so to make sure that our motives are in line with yours. In Jesus Name with pray…..Amen
